Cutter NZ Wrecks
Of 28 tons built at Waipu in 1866, was wrecked at Bream Head enroute Auckland
to Waipu with stores and 18 passengers on 30th March 1868. Two passengers
drowned, and two had broken legs.

Of 26 tons built at Mahurangi in 1858, stranded in the Whangapa River at Great
Barrier Island on 8th August 1872. No lives were lost in the accident.

Built Dumbarton in 1908 of 4,345 tons for the Aus-NZ Pacific Islands route.
Troopship in 1916. In 1919 on the trans-pacific route to San Francisco. Laid up
1932 in Auckland - broken up in Japan in 1934.

Built in England in 1901 of 5220 tons sank on 30th August 1916 in fair weather
off Bull Rock Portland Isle while steaming from Auckland to Wellington.

A storeship of 962 tons with two guns, Sailed Spithead Sep 1841 with convicts
for Australia then arrived Bay of Islands, March 1842. Loaded 103 masts. Sailed
for UK with widow and family of Gov. Hobson.

Schooner NZ Wrecks
Of 26 tons built at Tauranga in 1859 was wrecked at Auckland on April 7th
1862 during very severe gales.

Built Auckland of 186 tons. Served Pacici theatre in 1942-45. Bought Blenheim
in 1961 then sold to Kaiapoi Shipping Co. & used Kaiapoi-Napier. Converted to
line fishing but became unseaworthy.
TWO SISTERS 1866
Cutter NZ Wrecks
Of 19 tons, built at North Shore Auckland in 1863, foundered off Whangaparaoa
on June 25th 1866.
UNCLE SAM 1846
Schooner NZ Wrecks
Of 25 tons and registered at Auckland was built at Waiheke Island in 1844. Lost
in heavy weather off East Cape early in June 1846 at Long Point, Hawkes Bay.
All crew were saved.
UNDINE 1856
Schooner NZ Wrecks
Of 22 tons built at Auckland in 1846 by Henry Niccol, parted her cable at Kennedy
Bay near Cape Colville and with nobody on board was driven out to sea and went
ashore Great Mercury Island on May 18th 1856.
UNION 1860
Schooner NZ Wrecks
Sailed from Newcastle NSW with cargo of coal for Manukau on June 29th 1860,
wreckage found on beach four miles north of Manukau. All hands lost.

Cutter NZ Wrecks
Wrecked off Johnsons Reef on July 13th 1865 when bound to Matakana from
Panmure, Auckland. No lives lost.

Ketch NZ Wrecks
Of 21 tons Built at Auckland in 1864. Struck Cape Campbell reef on August
11th 1872 and was beached at Flaxbourne.

Brig NZ Wrecks
Mutinied crew killed by Maori's in Bay of Islands in December 1806, and the
vessel burned.

Built Basingstoke but assembled at Onehunga 1913 of 76 tons. Used Onehunga-
Waiuku route as a passenger ferry. Dismantled in Auckland 1945-46.

Paddle Thames service Waitemata
Built 1896, the vessel served on the Auckland-Thames-Coromandel route for
30 years till 1926.

Built Dumbarton of 440 tons used on the Thames run. Worn out by dragging over
shelly bottom shallows. Laid up 5th July 1926 and scrapped 1929 in Auckland.

Of 91 tons built at Waipu in 1863, commanded by Capt. Murdoch, stranded at
North Spit, Port Waikato on June 14th 1864.

Built 1894 of 127 tons for the Waimuku-Onehunga route. Acquired by NSS Co.
in 1906 and used in Piako service. Sold 1919 renamed KEREPEEN. Sold
Devonport 1923 and broken up 1940 and buried in reclamation.

Dragged her moorings and was dashed against the pier at Auckland during gale
on June 21st 1863.

When bound from Manukau to Wellington she went ashore south of Sugar Loaf
Island on August 2nd 1850. One woman passenger was drowned.

Schooner NZ Wrecks
Of 47 tons built at Footscray near Melbourne in 1864, capsized 30 miles NW
of Kapiti Island on 5th June 1875. Four members of the crew were drowned.
Master was rescued.

Iron built of 422 tons built at Dumbarton Scotland in 1853, went ashore near
North Cape on March 3rd 1857 when bound from Auckland to Sydney. Captain

Of 232 tons built at Dartmouth Massachusetts in 1850, was beached in a sinking
condition near Toetoe Bay, Southland on May 13th 1877.

23rd June 1876 3 miles south of South Head, Manukau Harbour.
