Of 33 tons built at Huia Bay Manukau in November 1865, was lost at sea after 

sailing from Charleston South Island in June 1867 bound for Manukau.

striking a sunken rock near Motutapu Island in the Hauraki Gulf, whilst on 

an excursion trip.

unseaworthy while on a voyage from Sydney to Dusky Bay and lies in Facile 

Harbour.. This was the first recorded shipwreck in NZ.

the East Coast on October 21st 1857 when en route from Auckland to East

1896 became tender to a whaling station. In 1897 was tender at Coromandel.

Of 26 tons built at Mechanics Bay Auckland 1859 - Captain Toohig - sailed 

from Lyttleton on January 7th 1861 for Wellington and was never seen again. 

Crew and 3 or 4 passengers all lost.

mile north of Katikati entrance.

Of 18 tons built at Waipu Auckland in 1861. Capsized in heavy weather on the 

Manukau Bar on 2nd February 1874. All hands (8) being drowned. (including 

six passengers two of whom were children)

Of 55 tons built at Great Barrier Island in 1869, foundered in heavy weather 

on March 16th 1876 off Bank Peninsula. One crew member drowned.

Of 265 tons under Captain Brown. Was wrecked in Waitakere Bay between Manukau 

& Kaipara harbours on 16th September 1853 with loss of seven lives including 

the master, en route Melbourne to Hokianga.
