Records of private Maori burial grounds in the Auckland area are in the minute books held at the Tai Tokerau Maori Land Court.
You may access the minute books through several avenues:
Archives New Zealand Auckland Regional Office, which has a complete copy of the records.
Family History Centres; the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) has partial copies on microfilm. They have copyright over their microfilmed copies.
The University of Auckland Library New Zealand and Pacific Collection has the microfilm versions of the LDS, but they also sell the databases which can be placed on any IBM compatible machine running Windows 3.11 or later.
If you are from another area of New Zealand please see New Zealand Family History Centres, New Zealand Libraries and Archives New Zealand.
Or, you may contact your local tribe, marae, iwi organisation or the New Zealand Society of Genealogists (NZSG) Maori Special Interest Group.
Public Cemeteries
Public cemetery locations in the Auckland area are listed here.
The NZSG previously undertook a project to transcribe all of the headstones at public cemeteries. You are able to order a copy of their list through their site or through the post, or you can refer to the Adoptions, Births, Deaths and Marriages section if you wish to locate a copy in one of Auckland's libraries.
